L590 Marine Adhesive - Premium Boat Carpet Glue

In Stock & Ready to Ship –

Sold by the gallon – 1 gallon covers an 8' x 10' area.

Application Instructions:

  1. Acclimate materials: Ensure the L590 Marine Adhesive, flooring fabric, and substrate are acclimatized for at least 24 hours before installation. Failure to do so voids warranties.
  2. Prepare the substrate: Follow the subfloor preparation guidelines and loose-fit the flooring for an accurate fit. Consider leaving extra fabric at the edges for flexibility during installation.
  3. Apply adhesive: Starting at one end of the boat, roll the fabric back toward the center, working in sections. L590 can be brushed, rolled, or troweled (using a 5/32” U-notch trowel).
  4. Avoid skin formation: If the adhesive forms a skin, scrape it off and dispose of it, then reapply with fresh adhesive.
  5. Place fabric: L590 is not a contact adhesive, so there’s no need for tack-time. Simply apply the fabric to the wet adhesive, smooth out wrinkles, and make immediate adjustments.
  6. Spread rate: Apply at approximately 1 gallon per 120 sq. ft. Thicker applications may take longer to cure.
  7. Final steps: Once the fabric is laid down, smooth it out using a straight edge or a similar tool. Avoid foot traffic and weather exposure (including cold temperatures) for 24-48 hours to ensure full curing.

Recommended For Use With:

  • Synthetic carpets, woven fabrics with marine backs, woven polypropylene (ActionBac), urethane/PVC foams, and latex unitary materials.
  • Water-resistant and non-flammable, providing a quick-setting, strong bond.

Subfloor Surfaces:

  • Fiberglass, marine-grade plywood, concrete, aluminum
  • Do not use over wood surfaces containing copper salts.

General Preparation:

  • Sand aluminum with rough-grit paper to remove oxidation.
  • Clean fiberglass with a solvent to eliminate mold release lubricants and sand for better adhesion.
  • Always wipe surfaces clean with a tack cloth and safety solvent before applying L590.

Specifications:

  • Open Time: 15-30 minutes (dependent on temperature and humidity).
  • Freeze-Thaw Stable: If frozen, allow to thaw and pour off excess water before use.
  • Shelf Life: 1 year (unopened container).
  • Clean-Up: Warm water for wet adhesive; safety solvent for dry adhesive.

Warranty: L590 is manufactured to high-quality standards and is guaranteed free from defects for one year. Warranty claims should include the original receipt and lot number, and be sent to Boat Carpet Central, Attn: Claims, 1923 N. Home St. Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Why Choose L590 Marine Adhesive?

When purchasing boat carpet glue, it’s essential to invest in a quality product. Many cheaper adhesives can damage the carpet backing over time. L590 is a trusted, water-based marine adhesive recommended by boat manufacturers for its fast-setting, strong bond and durability. It’s suitable for various boats (Pontoon, Deck, Bass, Ski, Jon Boats) as well as patios and decks.
